Ford is claiming an advantage in performance power, but Ram Power Wagons generate an incredible 410 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque. Keeping that torque controlled at low rev helps make the Power Wagon quite competitive. In fact, it claims tow ratings of more than 10,000 pounds. The Raptor is held to tow ratings around 8,000 pounds.
While the Ram claims a remarkable 14.5 inches of ground clearance, the revised Raptor stands at about 13 inches. The all-important wheel travel measurements show an even more marked difference. Ram has achieved a 26-inch wheel travel for the Power Wagon. Ford wheel travel is about half: 13 inches for the front and 13.9 inches for the rear wheels. That gives Ram a big advantage for maneuvering on difficult trails. Then there is the matter of fording through water. The Ram holds the record with a 30-inch water-fording clearance.
