Capability and Safety
The 2026 RAM 1500 features a 3.6L V6 engine compared to the Silverado 1500’s four-cylinder engine. Both models get about the same power and have rear-wheel drive standard on the base trim. However, RAM offers slightly more efficient performance with 25 mpg on the highway compared to the 21 mpg for the Silverado 1500. RAM and Chevy include numerous safety features on their trucks, but RAM makes more of them standard on the base trim. For example, the Blind Spot System is standard on the RAM 1500 and optional on the Silverado 1500. Adaptive Cruise Control and Remote Engine Start are also standard for the RAM truck, but you must add them at an extra cost for the Silverado 1500. The base trim of the RAM 1500 includes a tow hitch, which is also optional for the Silverado truck.
Style and Comfort
Chevy and RAM load their trucks with numerous comfort features for the higher trims. Base models are simple with few frills, though both trucks include the basics. They have power windows and locks as well as remote keyless entry. Only the RAM 1500 includes two rows as standard with the Silverado 1500 adding second-row seating as an option. Keyless entry is standard on both base models while remote engine start is only standard for the RAM 1500. You’ll travel further in the RAM 1500 without needing to refuel with a 26-gallon tank as opposed to the 24-gallon tank for the Silverado 1500.
Safety First
Chevrolet and RAM take safety seriously, including numerous advanced safety systems on the trucks. Both models have a backup camera on all trims while offering the Around View Camera as an option for greater visibility. Active Lane Keep Assist is standard on both trucks as well to keep you in your lane. Only RAM makes rear parking sensors standard on the base trim. RAM also includes Rear Cross-Traffic Alert as standard across the line to give you a warning of a vehicle in your path as you back up. Blind Spot System is another standard feature on the RAM 1500, which warns you when a vehicle is in your path as you start to switch lanes. Traction control and stability control are standard across the line for both models.
